The Thembekile Mandela Foundation (TMF) was founded in 2012 by Ndileka Mandela, the first grandchild of Nelson Mandela.
It was launched on the 20th of February 2014 to commemorate the birthday month of Ndileka’s father and Nelson Mandela’s son, Thembekile Mandela, in whose honour the Foundation was founded.
The Foundation seeks to promote and sustain Madiba’s legacy that believed education and health are the two pillars central to the social development of any community.
These two programmes (Education and Health) were previously championed and managed by the Nelson Mandela Foundation(NMF). However since the rebranding of the NMF to the Nelson Mandela Centre of Memory, they no longer form part of the operations of the centre and are now under the management of the TMF.
