The Agricultural Project is poised to create sustainable jobs for unemployed youth and women in the Gauteng and Eastern Cape provinces. Currently our partners include the Department of Trade and Industry, Agricultural Research Council, Westonaria Community Trust and Sibanye Gold, with a promise of more partners in the public and private sectors coming on board in the future.
The projects will provide accredited agricultural training, establishment of cooperatives, startup funding, marketing of produce and ongoing mentorship to ensure sustainability.

Eastern Cape
The Eastern Cape leg of the project will have two components; vegetable and livestock farming.
The vegetable farming will be implemented in Clarkebury on the land donated to the Methodist Church by the great grandfather of Nelson Mandela. This will be used as a Mega incubator where ten (10) cooperatives will be trained for a year and have the opportunity for them to continue the projects at their respective lands after the completion. The Agricultural team will continue to provide mentorship and market access opportunities to cooperatives to enable meaningful participation in the economy. After the first group graduate, the Mega Incubator will continue to train other groups.

Livestock farming in sheep, goats, cattle and chickens, will provide training and support to farmers and emerging farmers in the Clarkebury area. The training will include educating farmers on national legislation governing farming, treatment of livestock and the prevention of diseases.

Gauteng
The Gauteng leg of the project will be implemented by the Westonaria TVET College (a former FET college). The accredited training will be provided by WesCol for a minimum of six (6) months. Sibanye Gold has provided the land for this project. After graduation all beneficiaries will be trained on entrepreneurial skills and provided with land by the Westonaria Municipality to run their own agricultural cooperatives. Coaching, mentorship, marketing of produce will continue. Those that are not interested in starting their own businesses will be placed within other cooperatives as employees. The Thembekile Mandela Foundation is coordinating all activities to ensure success.
